 CCR MV

1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? My group did our research at the start of the process with other videos that were in our genre. We researched three other Taylor Swift songs to see how she made her music videos. This allowed us to get an idea what shots, angles, and what kinds of editing we needed to do. By doing this, making the music video and editing was pretty easy because we already knew what we were going to do. Our video represents younger kids turning into teenagers. Our locations were at Holiday Park and the Galleria Mall. Both of these places were spots me and my friends spent our time at while growing up. Whether it may be playing sports at the park or shopping for toys at the mall. The video is meant to show that as we grow up we encounter more things that we need to be aware of, especially as teenage girls. The video deals with the social issue of anxiety or stress. These are two problems that many other girls and I deal with everyday when out in public. This music video represents me and all the other girls who are constantly worried about their surroundings when they are in places that aren't their home. At first this may seem like a fun song that we chose just for fun, But the plot behind the music is a problem that represents me and many others.

2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text? When making this video, my group didn’t want to make it for one specific audience. If I'm being completely honest, the video was supposed to be spooky and ominous because of the whole stalker theme. After watching the video over and over, as well as showing it to our friends, we got a ton of laughs. Our video is able to reach multiple audiences such as kids, teens, adults, etc. and because of this we can get more views. I think because of how funny the video is, and it wasn't intended to be this funny, people will enjoy watching it and even laugh like me and all my friends did. When people see how much creativity was put into this video they will enjoy watching it even more! If this video was a professional project, I would release it everywhere. I would release it on YouTube, TikTok, you name it! I would release the video on YouTube because of the platform's wide reach of audience and its accessibility! The video would be available to anyone who wanted to watch it. Releasing the video on TikTok may also reach a large audience, but not as much as YouTube. TikTok may not allow the video to get to everyone because it's not very accessible. There are restrictions for younger kids which may not allow the video to reach everyone. Any platform may get our video to reach large amounts of audiences, but my main platform would have to be YouTube.

3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project? Throughout the project, my production skills improved each day. When my group first started to make this music video I guess you can say I knew nothing. Everything was new to me and I was planning on learning as we progressed. I had never filmed a video like this before and my production skills were very low. Filming and editing wasn’t my strong suit. I was more of the person in front of the screen. One of the girls in my group (rowyn) helped me out in the areas that I was struggling. Soon enough I was paying attention to the details that needed work. My communication with my group mates was improving. We were able to communicate points across to each other so the others weren’t confused. My editing skills were improving in no time and I was completing a lot more than I thought I would be completing. Being able to understand what the vocabulary terms meant and actually being able to describe how I wanted a shot is a huge way my production skills improved. Throughout the process I was learning more vocabulary words each day. When making this video I had to multitask a lot. On top of my homework for other classes plus editing and filming the video, multitasking was a must. My knowledge of different software and editing tools grew as I had to edit this video. Being an editor is not an easy job, and as much as I enjoyed editing, I think I’ll just stick to being on the screen or filming.

4. How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project? For this video my group and I decided we would film with an iPhone instead of an actual camera. The reason for this is that the iPhone is more convenient. My group was going straight from school to our filming locations. Carrying a camera in our backpacks can risk breaking it and we wouldn't want that. Another problem was transferring the footage to our computer/phones where we were filming and we wanted to make the editing process as easy as possible. Our editing software was iMovie. Using the movie allowed me to edit the video as easily as possible. I am very familiar with iMovie as I have been using it for many years now. It's One of the best editing software apps for beginners! iMovie allowed us to add the transitions that we wanted in an effective manner. Instead of using a new app and trying to figure out how to use it, iMovie was definitely the better move. Blogging was a big part of this process. I used Blogger to record how the video was going. In every production blog I would update how everything was going and what I had done so far. Blogger allows me to share my experiences with others and express them in my own way!  Using Blogger I can see how far I have come throughout this school year! Looking back on the blogs I have made this year it shows I have progressed a lot!
